JOSÉ ALBERTO MARCHI
(Argentina, b.1956)

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1956, he studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales Manuel Belgrano, and at the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón.

From his twenties to his thirties, he held one-man drawing exhibits at Arthea (Buenos Aires, Argentina: 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980) and Wildenstein Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires, Argentina: 1982, 1984).

In 1992, he held his first exhibition at Zurbarán Gallery (Buenos Aires, Argentina) where he exhibited regularly until 2001. In 2004, José Marchi’s exhibition Solis Flamma, a series of paintings joined by a sound installation by CIRCULAR –duo in which Marchi develops his musical activity together with Daniel Varela– premiered at Podewil (Berlin, Germany).

In 2005, his exhibition Música Blanca, premiered at both Centro Cultural Recoleta (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and at the Museo de Bellas Artes Juan B. Castagnino (Rosario, Argentina).

In 2007, he held his first one-man exhibit at Latin American Masters a second one at Fundación Mundo Nuevo (Buenos Aires, Argentina), and a third one at Patrick Marchal Gallery (Brussels, Belgium). In 2009, he exhibited Tierra Celeste organized by Belgium’s M Museum at Cypres Galerie (Leuven, Belgium).

He currently lives and works in Buenos Aires

His most recent exhibition was held at Mundo Nuevo Gallery in 2015 (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
