William Sheehy is a 1978 graduate of USC School of Cinema, where he received a Bachelors of Arts in film production. In 1979 Mr. Sheehy traveled to Mexico where he saw the paintings of Orozco, Tamayo, Toledo and other important artists. He began studying Latin American art, traveling extensively, seeing as much art as possible. In 1982 he began a five-year apprenticeship with Bernard Lewin of B. Lewin Galleries. During this period he formed a friendship with Rufino Tamayo, visiting him frequently at his homes in Mexico City and Cuernavaca. In 1987 Mr. Sheehy opened Latin American Masters gallery in Beverly Hills. Over the next 30 years the gallery hosted exhibitions for many of Latin American’s most important artists, among them: Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Toledo, Gunther Gerzso, Wifredo Lam and Roberto Matta.

In 2009 Mr. Sheehy closed his Beverly Hills location and opened his newly expanded gallery at Santa Monica’s Bergamot. Mr. Sheehy is passionate about art. He believes in the power of art to communicate across time and seemingly vast cultural divides.
